New Urbanism

New Urbanism is a development philosophy that brings the best of traditional communities into the 21st Century.  We are following these admirable tenets, which mandate:

  • mixed-use — single-family homes, live/work spaces, townhouses, multi-family dwellings and retail and office spaces together form a tight-knit, convenient community
  • quality architecture — houses and commercial buildings designed to create a sense of place and provide comfort and value for the people who own or use them
  • walkability – downtown, restaurants, shopping, the river and Landa Park within a 10-minute walk
  • connectivity –boulevards, narrow streets and alleyways diffuse traffic and create a pedestrian-friendly environment

This excerpt from the Charter of the New Urbanism further articulates our commitment to creating a traditional neighborhood of the highest quality:
“We stand for the restoration of existing urban centers and towns within coherent metropolitan regions, the reconfiguration of sprawling suburbs into communities of real neighborhoods and diverse districts, the conservation of natural environments, and the preservation of our built legacy.”
